We continuously innovate and expand our global network in line with the market and opportunities to ensure reliable and efficient transportation services for the pharmaceutical sector.
Can you talk about the extent of AFKLMP’s pharma operations?
We have an extensive pharma operation, with daily connections to at least 65 destinations from our main hubs in Paris and Amsterdam, and 100 destinations connected at least three times weekly. With strategic partnerships, including those with Delta, and Virgin, we offer over 100 widebody and freighter destinations for temperature-controlled pharmaceutical shipments.
What certifications and quality standards has AFKLMP achieved to meet pharmaceutical industry requirements?
AFKLMP has obtained various certifications, including being the first airlines (AF and KLM) and hubs (CDG and AMS) to be IATA CEIV certified three times back-to-back. This certification ensures that our pharma operations maintain the highest standards of quality and integrity throughout the supply chain. We are currently working on the recertification for 2024.
What specific services and solutions has AFKLMP developed to cater to the pharmaceutical industry’s needs?
AFKLMP offers specialised solutions such as passive solutions for customer-packaged Pharma shipments, active container solutions for constant temperature, and end-to-end visibility through digital platforms. We also provide personalised customer support to tailor solutions to specific needs.
What investments has AFKLMP made in infrastructure and technology to support pharmaceutical cargo operations?
We have made significant investments in infrastructure and technology to enhance our pharmaceutical cargo operations. We recently expanded our Paris hub, adding 60 additional ULD cool cell units, 30 for 2-8°C & 30 15-25°C bringing our total capacity across both Paris and Amsterdam hubs to over 20,000 sq m. The official opening of these facilities will be marked by a customer event in Paris in June. Additionally, we have upgraded our IT system to the industry-leading iCargo in Paris, with Amsterdam scheduled to follow in early 2024. These investments ensure seamless handling of pharmaceutical cargo from start to finish.
How is AFKLMP expanding to meet the global demand for pharmaceutical transportation?
We are expanding our global network by increasing capacity on key routes, particularly across the North Atlantic. Additionally, we continuously adapt to market trends and challenges by adjusting our network. For example, we recently introduced a weekly Boeing 777 freighter service from Paris to Mumbai, which will operate until the end of October.

We also offer a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) programme, allowing customers to contribute to reducing environmental impact through our goSAF initiative.
